We're celebrating information architecture with a half day conference 1pm - 4:30pm, at VFS 420 Homer (doors open at noon).

This year we are focused on the topic of "Doing IA for Good" featuring keynote speaker Andrew Fung with his talk, "Organizing our minds for truth".

Keynote description:
In a world where lies and conflicts garner more attention than truth, how might we as practitioners tip the attention scale for our users, back towards more truth and less lies? The answer might begin with augmenting our thinking process before we begin formulating the technologies we build for the world. In this talk, Andrew will show how our current landscape of social technology thrives off of unhealthy conflicts, and how we as practitioners can reposition our mental state to build for a better and more truthful future.

Join our expert panel in a discussion on how we might practice IA for good:
We would like you to think in the direction of how might we use IA to protect human civilization from misinformation. One way to approach the topic is to consider that nowadays we struggle to make sense of the abundance of information and sources. We don’t know who to trust, so we believe what we want and can be easily manipulated. Some digital places are enabling ignorance, hate, alienation, and polarization to grow.
